Cubase 2i4 audio overload3/27/2023 So far, the two biggest things that make a difference are the changes I made above, and rebooting my computer. This lead me to believe it had to be some kind of problem between the Focusrite drivers and Nuendo, but of course, I can only guess via elimination. I have no problems in other DAWs (I use a few others depending on the project–Nuendo tends to be where I go for final production though). The CPU spike problem happens regardless of the size of my session, whether it’s my orchestra template that has 2500 midi channels running purged instances of kontakt (which seems to load the CPU up about 50%), or a nearly empty session with like maybe 5 channels of audio at 96kHz. (The steinberg card problem was with the chipset on my ASUS x99 deluxe motherboard–I worked it out with Steinberg support long ago). I have an 8-core i7 workstation with 128GB of ram that I use for larger kontakt and orchestral tools templates. If I could only get the generic drivers to work at 96kHz I’d be quite happy. (After trying latencymon, different configs, other DAWs, and finding nothing wrong with my system, I have to narrow this down further). Of course, a bunch of my projects are at 96, so it’s not ideal to load them at 48 and play back at half speed…īut this does have me wondering if the CPU spike issue is driver related, maybe switching sound cards to a different brand would have better luck. As soon as I set the Focusrite to 96kHz it vanishes from the list of devices in the generic driver, and the generic driver automatically switches to a different device if the Focusrite is selected. The generic ASIO drivers only let me use the Focusrite when it is set to 48kHz. Instead of running the Focusrite ASIO drivers, I switched to the generic low level ASIO driver.ĬPU spikes gone. I’ve always had to put up with random CPU spikes with my Focusrite 2i4 –until one day. Thanks in advance for your time.I’ve read numerous threads about CPU spike issues, but I haven’t seen a problem quite like this one mentioned. Scarlett Studio includes Cubase LE 6 for recording and mixing, the Focusrite Scarlett plug-ins to. ![]() It's really crappy spending all this money and having things not work as they should - is it really only me?Īnyway, if anyone can shed some light on the subject I'd be very grateful. Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 - USB Recording Audio Interface. Should I look at a different interface? I'd really rather not have to go to a different DAW because I'm very familiar with Cubase after all these years. So, what are my options? I can't believe Steinberg would insist on using ASIO if PCs couldn't deal with it properly - I tried ASIO4all, same problem. I tried re-setting MusicBee to play using the WASAPI driver instead of the ASIO, and suddenly had seemingly flawless audio playback! This was great, but of course this won't work with my interface or with Cubase, which requires an ASIO driver. ![]() I have just uprgaded to my new system from a PC running Windows 7 which had the same problem - I tried everything I could to get rid of the problem (changing buffer size, shutting down background programs, etc etc) and because I was having the same issue playing songs through MusicBee I just assumed it must be the PC (hence my upgrade), but I'm having exactly the same problem now with my new PC. I cannot record or play back audio for longer than 5 minutes without getting a 'hiccup' kind-of glitch. I am running a PC on Windows 10, using Cubase 8 with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 interface. Hi there - please excuse me for a long-winded question.
